What is SIFE?

SIFE (Student In Free Enterprise) is a partnership between business and higher education that is preparing the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders to create a better world for everyone. Its global network consists of business executives, university students and academic leaders.

SIFE students from teams that serve their communities by developing projects that take what they are learning in their classrooms about business and use it to solve real world problems for real people. Business executives support the program through corporate donations, personal contributions and the gift of their time.

The SIFE program concentrates on six areas: market economics, success skills, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, environmental sustainability, business ethnics and the long-term sustainability of their team and educational programs.

SIFE Competition

SIFE competition is an activity that able to measure and demonstrate how effectively that SIFE teams created economic opportunity by helping others. Each team needs to hand in a mandatory report and prepare for a live presentation.

In many countries, there are several regional competitions held in various locations throughout the country. In such cases, the Regional Champion then advances to the SIFE National Competitions which are held annually in their country, typically during the months from April to July. Then, the National Champion from each country will be invited to compete at the SIFE World Cup. This competition allows teams to share best practice examples from across the globe and ultimately determine who is judged to be doing the best job in creating economic opportunity. The winning team will be named the SIFE World Cup Champion.

The event is a spectacular exhibit that highlights the rich diversity of languages, cultures, and ethnicities represented within SIFE and gives all in attendance a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and understanding.

SIFE UNNC

SIFE UNNC (Student In Free Enterprise, University of Nottingham Ningbo, China) has been established for one and a half years. Its mission statement is: “Empower the local community with global business excellence.” In the past fruitful year, it has launched over twenty projects, out of which seven are well running by eighty seven members.

One of the earliest launched projects—‘Roman Campus Welfare’ has contributed greatly to SIFE UNUK’s SIFE National Champion and World Cup Competition in Singapore this year. Besides, it has also done a large amount of volunteering work in both China and UK, namely ‘Local Entrepreneur Financial Skill Forum’ and ‘Ningbo Week in Nottingham UK’. SIFE UNNC has also expanded its business advisory board network to local enterprises, multinational enterprises, local government, British governmental institution and other non-profit organization namely Passion, Standard Chartered. Furthermore, SIFE UNNC has achieved over 10,000 media coverage rate by newspaper and websites namely Ningbo Daily and Chinese Food Industry Website.

Nowadays, the team is preparing actively for the national competition in April. The presentation team is busy with improving the slides making and presentation skills. Annual report and extra materials are almost ready. Projects such as Beevelop, Energy Auditing, Green Bag, The Ginseng Project are still well-running.
